Precious time for care

Time pressures

Time is of the essence. A sentence that epitomises the care sector. There is never enough time and on top of that rigorous requirements for evidencing care chew up much of the little time that is left. That makes the little time that remain for care that much more precious – both to the staff and service-users.

Nobody wants to provide mediocre or lack lusting care but when unforeseen circumstances, time pressures, and budget cuts get in the way of care it is even more important to get as much as possible out of the time for care.

Digital care planning alleviates time pressure

Orton Manor Nursing home near Birmingham was facing this exact situation and decided to take action against it following a less-than-desirable CQC report. “Requires Improvement” was the judgment by the CQC, and that served as the catalyst towards making concrete changes in the day-to-day operations in the nursing home.

They decided to implement digital care plans through Sekoia. Digital care planning and management can be delivering several benefits to all care home operators. The management of Orton Manor explained that they “wanted something more in their care delivery, so the carers were using technology in order to be able to deliver a higher standard of care and to free up time to spend with the residents.

The Journey always starts with the first step

The management at Orton Manor wanted to empower their staff to be able to provide better and more efficient care in a safer care setting. Before introducing Sekoia’s digital care planning solution they predominantly used paper-based documentation which made it cumbersome for the staff to maintain and update each resident’s ever-changing care plans and medication plans.
